Educational, not promotional

This article does not advertise a prescription-only medicine or imply that a named treatment is available from the clinic. Treatment decisions require an individual medical consultation.

Which scientific approaches are being studied?

Major directions include dual and triple receptor agonism, GLP-1 and amylin combinations, glucagon-containing combinations, oral small-molecule GLP-1 agonists and less frequent dosing.

  • Retatrutide: triple GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonist; phase 3 programme
  • CagriSema: cagrilintide and semaglutide combination; phase 3 programme
  • Survodutide: glucagon and GLP-1 receptor agonist; phase 3 programme
  • Orforglipron: oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist; phase 3 programme
  • Maridebart cafraglutide: long-acting GIP-receptor antibody conjugate; phase 3 programme reported
  • Amycretin: amylin and GLP-1 receptor agonism; clinical development

What else are trials trying to improve?

Research is examining maintenance, cardiovascular, kidney and liver outcomes, treatment convenience and the preservation of health during weight loss.

A lower dosing frequency or larger average weight change does not automatically make a treatment better for an individual. Tolerability, safety, access, licensing and long-term outcomes remain important.

How should pipeline announcements be interpreted?

Peer-reviewed results provide more detail than company announcements, while trial registries clarify protocol and status.

Manufacturer announcements may describe preliminary findings but should not be the sole basis for a patient-facing clinical claim. None of the research programmes listed here is presented as available from Dr K Medical Wellness.
